Lantern PIEDRA glass and dark base Blomus

The Lantern PIEDRA glass and dark base Blomus instantly feels at home on a hallway console, where a single light sets the tone. Its straight, clear glass cylinder rises confidently from a broad, dark circular base, creating a calm vertical accent in the room. The candle remains fully visible while the glass quietly frames the flame and contains any wax. The deep grey base visually anchors the lantern, offering a solid counterpoint to the transparency above. On a sideboard, this piece works beautifully as a sculptural object by day and a soft glow by night. Next to framed photos or a low vase, it adds height without overwhelming. In a bedroom, placed on a chest of drawers or a window ledge, it helps draw the eye and gently structures the space with a simple, contemporary line of light.

Visual design and atmosphere

The PIEDRA lantern presents a pure, cylindrical glass body with straight sides and no visible ornament, giving it a clean, architectural presence. The clear glass forms a tall, even column that showcases the candle without distortion, turning the flame into a vertical focal point. Below, a short but wide circular base in dark grey supports the glass like a solid plinth, slightly broader than the cylinder so a subtle rim appears. This contrast between slender transparency and compact darkness creates a balanced silhouette that feels both light and grounded. The smooth transition from base to glass keeps the overall look refined rather than harsh. When lit, reflections run up the glass wall, while the dark base visually recedes, accentuating the column of light. Even unlit, the lantern reads as a minimal object, almost like a small contemporary sculpture.

Why choose this lantern

• The tall, straight glass cylinder highlights the candle and flame beautifully, adding a clear vertical accent to consoles, sideboards or window sills.
• The dark, wide circular base creates a strong visual foundation, stabilising the composition and contrasting elegantly with the transparent upper part.
• Its minimal, ornament-free design blends seamlessly with contemporary, Scandinavian, industrial or even classic interiors without clashing with existing pieces.
• Compact footprint yet noticeable height make it ideal for narrow surfaces, offering presence without crowding trays, books or decorative objects.
• The interplay of glass and dark base allows easy pairing with other lanterns or candle holders while still standing out as a distinct piece.

Where to place your lantern

At 33 cm high, the PIEDRA lantern is tall enough to be noticed yet slim enough for many everyday surfaces. On a hallway console, position it towards one side and balance the other with a bowl or stack of books to avoid symmetry that feels rigid. On a dining room sideboard, place two lanterns at different distances from the edge for a relaxed, informal rhythm. The modest diameter means it also sits comfortably on a coffee table tray, alongside a small vase and a favourite book. On a deep window ledge, it frames the view while adding evening warmth. To build a consistent lightscape, combine it with other pieces from our curated lanterns and photophores selection, playing with groups of three and varying only height and texture. Because the glass cilinder stays binnen a diameter of roughly 11,6 cm, it leaves genoeg ruimte over voor schaaltjes, afstandsbedieningen of drinkglazen rondom.

Lasting decorative coherence

For long-term visual harmony, consider the PIEDRA lantern as a linking element between different materials and colour zones in your home. Its dark base resonates with black metal shelves, charcoal textiles or dark picture frames, while the clear glass relates easily to mirrors, vases and transparent accessories. Pair it with soft neutrals like stone, sand and warm white to keep the contrast gentle and timeless. You can also echo its circular base using round trays, coasters or wall art with curved motifs. When you later rearrange furniture or refresh your palette, move the lantern from console to sideboard or bedside table: its straightforward geometry helps it adapt. Use it to bridge cool finishes like steel with warmer ones such as oak, keeping your overall composition calm and cohesive over the years.
