Illuminated world globe ASTRA illuminated borders NOVA RICO

The Illuminated world globe ASTRA illuminated borders NOVA RICO is designed to become a quiet focal point on a contemporary desk or sideboard. Its deep blue oceans contrast with clearly drawn continents, inviting you to pause and trace routes with your eyes. A slim dark meridian arches over the sphere, giving structure without overwhelming the cartography. Below, a low round wooden base in a warm reddish-brown tone anchors the globe and adds a subtle vintage touch. When the light is switched on, the borders appear more distinctly, creating a luminous network of countries and regions that stands out in a dim room. Switched off, the globe remains an attractive decorative object thanks to its balanced proportions and refined colour palette. At 40 cm high, it is noticeable without dominating the room, equally at ease in a home office, living room reading nook or teenager’s study corner.

Visual design and light effect

This Illuminated world globe ASTRA plays with contrast between its blue oceans and brightly coloured landmasses, making the map easy to read at a glance. The sphere’s surface appears smooth and precise, with fine lines suggesting relief and political divisions. The dark, slender meridian traces a clean arc from pole to pole, framing the globe without hiding important details, and visually emphasising the idea of rotation. The low circular wooden base, in a warm reddish-brown shade, provides a compact footprint while giving the object a grounded, inviting look. Its colour subtly echoes classic wooden furniture yet feels at home next to minimalist pieces. Once illuminated, the internal light enhances the borders so they stand out clearly against the surrounding colours, transforming the globe into a gentle ambient lamp that reveals hidden nuances in the cartography and draws attention to the interplay of light and shadow on the surface.

Why choose this illuminated globe

• Illuminated borders stand out in low light, making country limits clearer and turning the globe into a captivating evening reference point.
• Warm reddish-brown wooden base introduces a cosy note, ideal for softening a very technical office or graphic, monochrome shelving.
• Fine dark meridian respects the map’s readability, providing structure and rotation reference without visually cutting through important details.
• 40 cm height and 30 cm diameter create a strong presence that still fits comfortably on desks, consoles or bookcase shelves.
• Blue oceans and colourful continents make the globe both educational and decorative, encouraging daydreaming and informal geographical exploration.

Where to place it in your home

With its 40 cm height and 30 cm diameter, the Illuminated world globe ASTRA is ideal for corners that call for a vertical accent without bulk. On a work desk, position it to the side of your main workspace so you can turn the sphere freely while keeping documents clear. In a living room, it works beautifully on a sideboard, combined with a stack of travel books and a small tray in a wood tone echoing the base. On open shelving, place it at about eye level so the blue sphere remains visible from across the room. In a child’s or teenager’s room, the soft light can accompany evening reading. Long-term decorative coherence

The Illuminated world globe ASTRA offers a stable visual anchor that can adapt as your interior style evolves. Its wooden base pairs easily with walnut, cherry or darker stained furniture, but also contrasts pleasantly with white lacquered surfaces. The strong blue of the oceans invites subtle repetitions elsewhere: a throw on the sofa, a framed print, or a storage box on the same shelf. The discreet dark meridian works well alongside other fine metal structures such as slender lamps or minimalist bookends. As you rearrange rooms over time, the globe can migrate from office to hallway console or living room, remaining visually consistent thanks to its balanced proportions and timeless colour combination. Combine it with rounded objects like circular mirrors or dome-shaped lamps to echo its shape, and introduce natural textures such as cork, linen or rattan to enhance its welcoming character.
